Why I Made Code 12

A pattern. A decision. An investigation.

There are certain patterns you don’t notice at first.

Not because they’re hidden.

But because they don’t present themselves as complete ideas.

They appear gradually.
Across different fields.
Different conversations.
Different moments in time.

For me, one of those patterns was the number 12.

The Pattern That Wouldn’t Disappear

For over a decade, my work in television placed me inside conversations most people only encounter at a distance.

Aliens.
Ancient civilizations.
Mythology.
Alternative theories.

At first, these topics felt separate.

Different threads of curiosity.

But over time, something began to repeat.

A structure.

A number.

A pattern that appeared consistently across systems that were not supposed to be connected.

12.

Code 12 did not begin as a film.
It began as a question I couldn’t ignore.

Why does this number appear so often, not just symbolically, but structurally?

Why does it show up in systems that shape how we understand time, space, and reality itself?

And more importantly:

What happens when you stop looking at it as coincidence?

The Part That Wasn’t About the Pattern

But this documentary was not only about patterns.

It was also personal.

For years, I worked in an industry that quietly enforced limits.

There were roles women were expected to play.

And roles they were not.

Shows about archaeology, ancient history, or alternative theories were often led by men.

Women were included but rarely centered.

We were positioned as observers.
Assistants.
Side voices in someone else’s investigation.

A Different Position

Code 12 became a response to that.

Not through confrontation.

But through action.

I stepped into the role I had been researching for years.

Not as a presenter.

But as the lead investigator.

Driving across locations.
Following the research firsthand.
Entering spaces that were never framed as “for someone like me.”

Not to prove a point.

But to remove the idea that permission was ever required.

Resistance And Then Something Else

There was resistance.

Some of it subtle.
Some of it direct.

Comments from executives.
Doubts about positioning.
Questions about whether this kind of presence would be accepted.

But something else happened.

The film found an audience.

And not just any audience.

Women who had been watching from the sidelines.

Women who recognized the space… but had never seen themselves fully in it.

Women who didn’t need convincing, only confirmation.

That they could step into the same roles.
Ask the same questions.
And follow the same paths.

What Code 12 Is Really About

Code 12 is often described as a documentary about patterns.

About mathematics.

About the possibility that reality operates through structures we don’t fully understand.

And that’s true.

But underneath all of that, it is also about something else.

What happens when you stop waiting to be positioned…
and start positioning yourself.

What happens when you stop asking for access…
and start entering the investigation.

The number 12 may be a pattern.

But the decision to follow it was not.
